Creekview and Etowah had never faced each other going into Friday nights contest, and the first game of the series was one for the books.
Creekview came into the game as heavy favorites, largely due to the return of Brody Rhodes and a large number of defensive starters.
Etowah was under the direction of new head coach Matt Kemper, who relied on two young Quarterbacks to lead the Eagles defense. Braden Bohannon and Will Curcio took turns at the helm of the Eagles offense, which only managed to find the endzone once.
Both teams struggled offensively, neither team could manage more than 200 yards for the entire game, but the defenses were on display.
Rhodes was only able to complete 4 passes on 15 attempts, but the biggest play of the game was a swing pass to our Player of the Game Tyler Stevens for the game tying score. Creekview was able to add the PAT and claimed the victory 14-13 over the Eagles.
Creekview will enjoy a bye week before heading back down to Towne Lake to battle the Woodstock Wolverines.
Etowah will travel to Forsyth Central on Friday and try to claim the first win of the Matt Kemper Era.
