Cherokee runs past Carver 38-12 in the Corky Kell

In a night filled with excitement, the Warriors battled through injury to top the Carver Panthers 38-12.

RB Keith Adams Jr. got the night started for the warriors with a 3-yard touchdown run on the opening possesion. The scoring slowed drastically after that, a 21 yard field goal by Joel Stahl gave the Warriors a 10-0 lead heading into the half.

However, the big story of the first half was star QB AJ Swann going down to injury at the end of the first half. He sustained an upper body injury that put him in a sling when the team came on the field for the second half.

Cherokee fans also saw Keith Adams Jr. exit the game with injury multiple times during the game, which later were revealed just to be cramps.

The second half showed the offenses hitting their stride, as Cherokee added two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter alone, giving the Warriors a 24-0 lead heading into the final frame.

Both Adams and Swann returned to the game, although Adams was removed in the 4th quarter as a precaution.

The 4th quarter gave way to the only two carver scores of the night, one of them being a 56 yard pass from Sophomore QB Lorenza Lennon, the other being a 5 yard touchdown run for Adam Sheely.

Cherokee answered back with a 67 yard touchdown pass from AJ Swann to Junior WR Adam Fullen, and a punt return for a touchdown by Junior WR Keegan Baker.

Cherokee will get a few extra days rest before hosting the Sequoyah Cheifs on September 11th
