Cherokee County History Center Joins Library Experience Passes

The Sequoyah Regional Library System (SRLS) and History Cherokee announce the addition of the Cherokee County History Center to the SRLS Experience Passes. Beginning Monday, June 19, 2023, SRLS library card holders can check out an admission pass to visit the Cherokee County History Center. The admission pass is valid for up to four people. It can be checked out at any of the SRLS library locations, in Cherokee, Pickens, and Gilmer counties. Each library will have one admission pass available.

“We are excited to have the Cherokee County History Center join our collection of Experience Passes,” said Angela Cortellino, SRLS executive director. “Experience Passes offer our patrons free or reduced admission to museums, parks, and other cultural institutions across the state. Now, with the addition of the Cherokee County History Center pass, the Sequoyah Regional Library System offers 11 Experience Passes to places such as the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts, the Atlanta Zoo, and Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites. It is wonderful to add a local venue to our Experience Pass collection”

“Everyone should be able to visit the Cherokee County History Center,” said Stefanie Joyner, executive director of History Cherokee, “but we understand that not everyone has the means to do so. Partnering with the library system and the Experience Pass program provides the opportunity for people who might not otherwise be able to visit.”

The Cherokee County History Center opened in November 2022. The History Center features six galleries, including a temporary exhibition gallery, that tell the story of Cherokee County and its people from prehistoric to modern times. Each gallery includes photographs, artifacts, and hands-on features to enhance the visitor experience, making the History Center a great place to visit for both adults and children.

SRLS library cards are free to all citizens of Gilmer, Pickens, and Cherokee counties. To sign up for a free library card, you can visit your local library or apply online at sequoyahregionallibrary.org/library-card/. In addition to books and audio books, community members can use library cards to check out movies, music, board games, teaching tools, Wi-Fi hotspots and more. Patrons also have access to computers, printers, digitizing equipment, and 3D printers. All SRLS library locations offer year-round programs and events for children and adults. Visit your local library today to see all of the exciting offerings for all ages.
