Special Election for State Senate District 54 Today

Vote today to fill the State Senate Seat once occupied by Charlie Bethel. Gov. Nathan Deal appointed Bethel to the Georgia Court of Appeals, leaving the seat for the 57th DIstrict open. Five people have qualified: Republicans Conda Goodson, Chuck Payne, Shell Underwood, and Wiliam Vinyard, as well as non-partisian candidate Debby Peppers. The district covers

Pickens, Gordon, Murray, and Whitfield Counties. Polls will be open today from 7am to 7pm. WLJA will announce the results once they are in. If a run-off is needed, it will be January 10th.
